How Enviro-Mark®NZ works

Using Enviro-Mark to implement a robust EMS is a simple way of improving your organisation’s environmental performance. The 5-step Enviro-Mark process tackles the implementation of each part of a credible EMS in a chronological fashion.

Together the 5 steps of Enviro-Mark are equivalent to the requirements of ISO 14001:2004, making the programme an ideal tool for you and your organisation to implement the requirements of this definitive international standard.

Detailed diagram illustrating the Enviro-Mark process

The 5 steps are as follows:

  1. Bronze: Compliance with relevant health, safety and environmental legislation

  2. Silver: Production of an appropriate environmental policy based on the identification of environmental aspects and impacts

  3. Gold: Implementation and monitoring of continuous–improvement targets and objectives

  4. Platinum: Documentation of operational procedures and systems used to manage environmental aspects and impacts (e.g. work instructions, practices, training and communication, management review)

  5. Diamond: Implementation of an internal management and audit programme to correct and drive continual improvement. [At Diamond level, a business is ready for an ISO14001 audit.]
